The health risks posed by wireless devices like cell phones and tablets have risen dramatically worldwide, and require actions to be taken immediately. The BioInitiative Group released a half yearly update that discussed the studies conducted between 2012 and 2014 and revealed that the new studies show brain tumours are linked to mobile phone use.
Lennart Hardell from Orebro University, Sweden, says, “There is a consistent pattern of increased risk for glioma (a malignant brain tumour) and acoustic neuroma with use of mobile and cordless phones.” He further said, “Epidemiological evidence shows that radiofrequency should be classified as a known human carcinogen. The existing FCC/IEEE and ICNIRP public safety limits are not adequate to protect public health.”
According to the BioInitiative Report, 68% of the studies, i.e. 144 out of 211, reported the impact of radiofrequency radiation on the nervous system and these numbers have increased since 2012, when it was just 63%. Extremely low-frequency radiation has also been reported to affect the nervous system in 90% of the studies, out of a total of 105 studies.
In 65% of the studies (75 of 114), genetic damage was observed from radiofrequency radiation, while extremely low-frequency radiation caused the same damage as seen in 83% of the studies.
Cell phones and tablets are wireless devices that cause biological stress to the mind and body. Wireless devices should not be kept in schools and internet should be provided without using Wifi, as per the report.
The Co-editor of the BioInititaive Report, Cindy Sage says, “It is essentially an unregulated experiment on childrens’ health and learning. Microwaves from wireless tech disrupts thinking, what could be worse for learning? Technology can be used more safely with wired devices that do not produce these biologically-disruptive levels of microwave radiation.”
